MMCC Certification Program

Golden Days Wellness Providers are registered with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission and are able to certify patients, ensuring patients can be seen by the practitioner who's experience best matches their condition.

Golden Days MMCC Certification & Wellness specializes in treating their patients physical, mental and emotional wellness. Golden Days Providers have years of experience helping people and their families suffering from chronic medical conditions and they view cannabis as a safe, natural and often more effective treatment option then traditional prescriptions, when used with the guidance of an experienced medical professional.

All Golden Days Providers are registered with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission and are able to certify patients, ensuring patients can be seen by the practitioner who's experience best matches their condition. In order to ensure the best possible experience for patients we offer walk-in and same day appointment visits at our Primary & Express Care location.

Medical Cannabis uses the marijuana plant or chemicals in it to treat diseases or conditions. It's basically the same product as recreational marijuana, but it's taken for medical purposes.

The marijuana plant contains more than 100 different chemicals called cannabinoids. Each one has a different effect on the body. Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) are the main chemicals used in medicine. THC also produces the "high" people feel when they smoke marijuana or eat foods containing it.

State law says the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission “is encouraged to approve” medical marijuana recommendations for:

  • Patients with chronic or debilitating diseases or medical conditions who have been admitted to hospice or are receiving palliative care.

  • Patients with a chronic or debilitating disease whose symptoms include (or for which the treatment produces side effects that include) cachexia, anorexia, or wasting syndrome; severe or chronic pain; severe nausea; seizures; or severe or persistent muscle spasms.

  • Patients who are diagnosed with any condition that is severe, for which other medical treatments have been ineffective, and for which the symptoms “reasonably can be expected to be relieved” by the medical use of marijuana.

  • The commission specifically lists glaucoma and post-traumatic stress disorder as qualifying conditions.

Medical marijuana is used to treat a number of different conditions, including:

  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Appetite loss
  • Cancer
  • Crohn's disease
  • Eating disorders such as anorexia
  • Glaucoma
  • Mental health conditions like schizophrenia and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Muscle spasms
  • Nausea
  • Pain
  • Wasting syndrome (cachexia)

Cannabinoids -- the active chemicals in medical marijuana -- are similar to chemicals the body makes that are involved in appetite, memory, movement, and pain.

Research suggests cannabinoids might:

  • Reduce anxiety
  • Reduce inflammation and relieve pain
  • Control nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy
  • Kill cancer cells and slow tumor growth
  • Relax tight muscles in people with MS
  • Stimulate appetite and improve weight gain in people with cancer and AIDS

Side effects that have been reported include:

  • Bloodshot eyes
  • Depression
  • Dizziness
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Hallucinations
  • Low blood pressure

More information about the process is available on the commission’s website.

3.) After registering, You will recieve a MMCC Patient ID number, these numbers can take up to 30-45 days for patients to recieve from the MMCC.

4.) Once the patient ID is obtained, a MMCC certification is needed to visit a medical dispensary and purchase medical cannabis. All Golden Days Providers are registerd to certify patients with the MMCC.

5.) The provider will need to confirm the patient’s commission-issued Patient ID number to issue the certification through the commission’s secure online application. If a certification is not used to purchase medical cannabis within 120 days, it becomes null and void.

Patients also can purchase physical MMCC ID cards for $50 from the commission after receiving your MMCC certification. ID cards are not required to buy medical marijuana and the expiration date issued on your card is not indicative of how long your certification is active.
